Our top developer jobs in London are…

RecWorks are proud to have long-standing relationships with some of the most innovative tech start-ups and established companies in London. They come to us because they like our approach to recruiting and the pride we take in matching the right developer to the right job. The benefit to developers looking for work is that we always have some really awesome roles on offer.

In this post I’ll give you an overview of three of the best jobs on offer at the moment. Although they will appeal to developers with very different backgrounds and skills, they all offer the opportunity for flexible working in one way or another. If you like what you read contact us and we’ll tell you more.

I’ll start with an outstanding opportunity in West London. The client has award-winning experience in digital preservation and the team’s work focuses on the design, development and enhancement of innovative and high-profile systems for handling digital records, currently operating at petabyte-scale. They are looking to recruit two experienced Java developers who want to work with Scala.

The culture is quite different to some of the capital’s technology start-ups. The team is around 10 in size and the focus is on best practices such as Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration in a relaxed informal environment, a 35 hour week and flexibility around the core working time.

Next let me tell you about an eTrading job in Zone 1 that is bound to appeal to developers who like interacting with customers and who have eTrading domain knowledge such as fixed income, derivatives, commodities, and currencies. There is the opportunity for flexible hours and some remote working too.

The company provides solutions for the fixed income and derivatives markets. Their core API for eTrading helps asset managers and banks to code to their client library (or API) once, and then have the ability to interact with multiple trading venues with minimal development work. The team here try to Open Source as many of their tools as possible, and encourage their developers to contribute to Open Source software they use in their system “on the clock”. It’s worth mentioning that the company have plans to move into currency and commodity markets in the future.

Members of the team have the chance for greenfield development and to work with high profile customers to meet or exceed their throughput and latency requirements with the aid of performance testing. You’ll have the immediate opportunity to work in a true agile/XP environment where you’ll be encouraged to test-drive your code properly. They have a CI/CD system already in place and they deploy high quality code after every two-week iteration.

If you like being part of a very collaborative organisation, check out this opportunity with a leading global technology partner to the commercial real estate industry (again based in Zone 1). The company’s SaaS technology combines carefully crafted advanced user experience with in-depth data modelling and manipulation, which is used by the majority of the leading real estate investors around the world. They are poised for growth and expansion over the next several years.

The collaborative culture here is a big part of the job, so I’ll explain about that first. Everyone is committed to doing a great job, giving it their all, and knowing they are making a difference. The culture continues outside of work, as the team often hang out to play board games, poker, and share fizzy (or fermented) drinks on Fridays. They also take part in charity races, sports and generally enjoy each other’s company.

There are two opportunities available and depending on which team you join you will either do greenfield development or help scale an existing low latency, high throughput system, requiring new feature development. You’ll be expected to handle complex data, thrive on solving challenging problems and make a key impact on the direction of the product and the company.

All sub-teams have set up continuous integration, one-click deployment and automated tests. They have two weekly release cycles where all the code they deploy is production ready meaning that you can frequently gain visibility of your work.

The basic hours are 37.5 a week, with the opportunity for flexible working.
