Requirements

Must Have

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as senior developer/tech lead
  • Experience of public facing website/web services
  • Knowledge across tech stack (not a prerequisite to be experienced with all)

It’s a complex, responsive and fast-moving business and as tech lead you’ll be the main point of contact between the tech team and the business. The team’s focus is on one product, with scope for adding new elements, so you’ll take ownership and get the chance to see your work in action, making a genuine difference to end users. How hands-on you are is largely up to you, and there’s the opportunity to develop your own tech range so experience across the whole stack isn’t a pre-requisite.

Ideally, you’re a senior developer looking to move into a tech lead role, or an existing tech lead looking for a new challenge where you can really take ownership and make a difference. You must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior dev / tech lead role with, crucially, public facing websites.

Tech stack includes: server-side templates using JSP/JSTL and some JavaScript, Spring Boot 2, Jooq ORM, Java 8 (moving to 11); MySQL 5.6, Apache Solr for document indexing/search, hosted on Google Cloud Compute Engine; some use of Vue JS in a standalone SPA used on android tablets; Sparkpost email service.
