(D)Evolving your native app into PWA

The latest Front Endgineers event, ‘(D)Evolving your native app into PWA’, is happening next week. Ever wondered where PWAs come from? What this weird acronym is and what it can do for you? Well, if you have, Artur Daschevici’s talk is for you.

For those of you not familiar with Artur, he is hugely passionate about tech. Throughout his career he’s worked on all layers of the stack. He’s currently building data-driven smart systems in a startup for elderly care using Nodejs + React + React Native.

Ahead of the session we chatted to Artur about what to expect and who will benefit the most from the event. Read on for more….

Who do you think should come along and why?

Anyone that is interested in what PWAs are, how they stack up vs native, what features they have and which platforms they cater to best.

What do you think are the three most interesting questions that this event will answer?

  • Are we ready to go full web?
  • What are the cool features in PWAs we don’t know about?
  • What are the tools to use when working with PWAs and what is the support in the popular frameworks?

Why do you think this presentation is important for people?

It will give a rundown of the features PWAs support and give an explanation as to what they are and what they are trying to achieve

Any advice for junior developers entering the industry?

Invest in learning more, buy courses, books and take shortcuts when learning e.g. attend meetups.

If you’re still looking for more reasons to come along, Artur gave us these amazing stats…

  • 60% of apps in the Google Play app store have never been downloaded.
  • The average user downloads less than 3 apps per month and half of US smartphone users download 0 apps per month.
  • Mobile users spend most of their time in apps, but 94% of app revenue comes from 1% of publishers, and users spend 80% of their time using just 5 apps.
  • 80% of users who download an app fail to become active users.
  • Worried about missing out on app store revenue? In app purchases are where the money is at, and you can do that in your own app without splitting costs with Apple or Google.

If you’d like to come along, the event is happening on Wednesday 5th December, 18.30 at Moo Print Limited, EC1M 3AF. To find out more information and to RSVP just click here.
