Team Lead, £60-£75k
I’m currently recruiting for a technology powerhouse in the retail sector. Technology and innovation is at the heart of everything that they do. Because they’re writing, building and running all of their own software systems, they’re constantly pushing the limits of what technology can do.Their customers place orders on their award winning website or mobile apps and in a typical week, they deliver in the region of 10 million individual items. They serve over 70% of British households. Currently they are looking for a Java Team Lead to join their team. This person does not have to have previous commercial leadership experience but does need to possess strong leadership attributes.
If you are a senior Java developer looking to make that next step up in your career, this could be the role for you as they are willing to accommodate this. If you are an existing team lead with a Java development background this role could also be for you as someone that could come in and hit the ground running would be a great start.
Unlike many companies who outsource their software development, almost all of their software is developed in-house: that makes them a very unusual retailer indeed. From the optimisation algorithms that fine tune their daily delivery routes, to the machine learning techniques that drive their consumer demand forecasting, to their real-time control systems.
They are continuing to invest millions in their state of the art technology and to develop software systems and algorithms to solve an array of complex problems with no off-the-shelf solution. They are constantly investigating new technology and have recently started to implement Scala and React.JS in to their technology stack.
Some of their recent research projects include:
Machine learning, adaptive systems and inference engines
Robotics and 2D/3D vision systems
Controls systems engineering
Optimisation and analytics
If you like the sound of this role, we’d love to hear from you. You can send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 020 7866 8155.
