Platform Engineer, £60-£90k (plus up to 25% bonus, private healthcare, generous pension scheme and more)

Role:
Our client operate in the fields of biomedical artificial intelligence, founded in 2013 they are one of the best funded startup’s in London (£100 million in funding so far) and have been recently listed as one of the most promising private Global AI companies.

They focus on harnessing artificial intelligence technology and scientific research to augment and accelerate the rate we can create of better medicines for some of humanity’s most debilitating diseases.

They’re looking to scale a small, very bright, agile engineering team building the platform their biomedical scientists use for intelligence search. Working on the greenfield design and development of scalable infrastructure to support and run their intelligent search technology, you’d spend time coming up with the best database servers, graph data structures, distributed computing and data repositories whilst also contributing to areas such as DevOps. You be exposed to technical areas such as Java8, Python, AWS, microservices, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, Spark, AI and machine learning.

Located in Zone 1 and able to pay some great salaries you’ve be joining recent hires from companies such as Google, AOL and IBM. The team recently held their first hackathon, have some welcoming purpose built offices, a fantastic working environment and some great perks.

If any of the following resonates with you, we think you’d be a great fit:
You’re experienced in the delivery of commercial software projects in modern versions of Java and ideally the newer functionality in Java8.
You have an unbiased view of programming languages, an understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of different languages and using the best tool to solve a problem – rather than what’s most familiar
A good understanding of databases, data stores and streaming such as MySQL, NoSQL, Redis, Hazelcast, Neo4J, Hadoop, Spark
Awareness of DevOps and containerised micro services through Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes or similar
Awareness or experience of could based web services such as AWS
You’re a strong advocate of code quality through TDD, CI/CD, automated testing and other processes to produce resilient and extensible software
