Mid/Senior DevOps Engineer (£55-£70k Basic + Stock Options) Social Gaming Start-up
We are working with a new Social Gaming start-up (not gambling), they currently develop massive multiplayer online RPG games. They were founded by social gaming veterans that have spent time at some of the largest and most successful gaming houses in the world. They are currently looking to hire a DevOps engineer with a strong coding background.
You would work as part of a small cross functional Java/Scala based platform development team as a DevOps engineer. You’d spend around 80-90% of your time working on development, automation coding and scripting with a best tool for the job approach. You wouldn’t be expected to contribute to backend code but the CTO is more than happy for you to take an active interest in pure development tasks too. The team are focussed on process improvement and the greenfield development of a highly scalable cloud based (AWS/EC2), performant gaming platform. Using the ELK stack you would have autonomy in how DevOps works with the development team and wider business, with responsibilities around the direction of the role. They are ideally looking for people who are open minded, enjoy complex challenges and a fast paced environment. The team practice Agile (SCRUM), and Continuous Delivery through automation of build, tests, and deployments. The tech stack would include AWS, Elastic search, Kibana, microservices amongst a number of languages for scripting.
– Strong Linux background
– Experience with AWS or similar cloud based infrastructure
– Awareness of DevOps methods
It would be beneficial to have the following;
– Software Engineering or Computer Science Degree (or equivalent)
The company is not necessarily looking for the finished article in a DevOps engineer, they’ll also happily receive applicants from a development background that would like to move into a DevOps role and will be happy to provide training.
