Mid-Senior Front End Developer, £35-£65k

Role:
I’m currently recruiting for one of the UKs technology powerhouses that are in the retail sector. Their customers place orders on their award winning website or mobile apps; they then pick and pack them in their highly automated world class Customer Fulfilment Centre and deliver them in one hour time slots. In a typical week, they deliver over 100,000 customer orders: in the region of 7 million individual items. They serve over 70% of British households and were the first UK grocery retailer to release iPhone and iPad apps.

Unlike many companies who outsource their software development, almost all of the software that powers them is developed in-house: that makes them a very unusual retailer indeed. From the optimisation algorithms that fine tune their daily delivery routes, to the machine learning techniques that drive their consumer demand forecasting, to the real-time control systems that operate their vast CFC, you’ll find a range of challenging projects on offer.

They are continuing to invest millions in their state of the art technology and to develop software systems and algorithms to solve an array of complex problems with no off-the-shelf solution.

They have been described as the Amazon of food for its cutting-edge warehousing and delivery system.

They are currently looking for talented front end software engineers of all levels to join their team. You are a front end engineer with a passion for accessible and semantic markup. To you, CSS is an art, and you love JavaScript with all its idiosyncrasies. IE is like your little brother, and you take pride in teaching it new tricks. You understand that change is a given in this fast paced industry, and that excites you.You will enjoy working closely with a team of designers, frontend and backend developers, and you strive to deliver world class user-centred interface solutions across both web and mobile.

Required:
OO JavaScript
CSS3
HTML5
Modern CSS techniques and pre-processors (SASS/LESS)
Third-party libraries
